The afternoon of June 22nd, the opening ceremony of SWJTU- Cornell joint International Center for science&technology and Social Innovation was held at SWJTU. 15:15, the signing ceremony was held at the multifunctional hall of center for academic exchange center in Jiuli campus. President Chen Chunyang, vice president Zhang Wengui, President Assistant Yan Qipeng, Alan POE, USA Vice Provost of Cornell University, Honorary Professor of our university, associate professor Gao Huaizhu, travel executive Xiaojian, Cornell University Center for sustainable global entrepreneur, Zhao Yanling, our school director, Chen Guang, the dean of school of public administration, and other department heads attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Qiu Yanjun, the director.
on behalf of the university, Chen Chunyang gave a warm welcome to Alan Poe and other colleagues of Cornell University, said good wishes to the guests，visiting the signing ceremony, express sincere thanks to hard work staff for the establishment of the centre. President Chen reviews historical origins of nearly a hundred years of our university and Cornell University, and briefly introduces the basic situation and the achievements of international cooperation. He said, the formation of the center is two hundred years of renewal of friendship, is the starting point for the future glory. President Chen hope that the each participating departments, make best use of advantage, make ollaborative efforts, and make the center become interdisciplinary integration, international communication base, become the test area of mechanism innovation, cooperative innovation in related fields, become the transfer of advanced technology application and social platform for innovation, and actively carry out the project of cooperation, promote cooperation and exchanges between the two university on a new level. President Chen said: "our school will provide full support to the smooth development of the related work . We look forward to the center achieving fruitful results in the knowledge innovation, technology innovation and social innovation field, looking forward to our cooperation and exchanges in a wide range of areas."
Alan Poe , Vice Provost of Cornell University expressed, The centre is not only a project two university work hand in hand, is a continuation of the two hundred years of friendship. He said: "I've always thought, research should not be confined to the field of education and scientific research itself, it should really solve the social problems. I firmly believe that, the two leaders, the staff, the students, will pay their own efforts for the platform." About the origin of the name of Cornell University, Alan Poe ,Vice Provost said: "the name comes from Mr. Connell, he is not only an inventor, is more of a thinker.“He invented a telegraph, which could transmit information long distance through Moss code. Mr Connell made invention and innovation using his ouwn knowledge and accumulated some wealth, after retirement, he founded the Cornell University using the money. at the beginning of its establishment , Cornell University flows blood of innovation . At the beginning of the foundation of the center, I am full of confidence, with the help of this platform, we can get a more fruitful."
Then, Zhang Wengui, vice president and Alan Poe , Vice Provost held a signing ceremony. Before starting the ceremony, President Chen Chunyang met Alan Poe Vice Provost and his colleagues at Tongyan Hall of the academic exchange center. On immediate symposium, Alan Poe ,Vice Provost made the keynote speech of Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Social Innovation. He put forward, innovation is to solve the need, provide more chance. For the demand, Alan slope had unique insights. He said, first of all, to understand or define content on demand, then use knowledge to make ideas become specific needs. But not all of the innovation is always the best, also need to consider various influence to society, economy, technology brought by the innovation. He took the fast food giant , McDonald's as an example, explained the importance of innovation. He thinks, knowledge is the important base of knowledge innovation, more rich knowledge meet more demand . He put forward, the aim of innovation center is: the definition of social and business needs, linking existing technology and demand, improve the execution. Alan Poe Vice Provost also will link the project and the work. In the background of social stability and economic growth, each work is very important. To achieve balance in order to better serve the community as a whole.
In view of the serious air pollution and epidemic situation of "haze", Gaohuaizhu, associate professor made a speech, entitled "PM2.5 and transportation: the challenge of sustainable development". He took the the survey of Cornell University and New York as an example, described the damage of PM2.5 and the damage of different energy dissipation vehicles to pollution. You Xiaojian , executives, do theme speech "challenges of Contemporary Humanities and social innovation", described innovation of contemporary human life, he offered a series of innovation project reference for students.

The center is professional institutions for technical research and development in the process of sustainable development and social innovation field, is the interdisciplinary cooperation platform. The center will focus on technical innovation application of social services and sustainable development, by combining the technology of both sides, promotes its application in Chinese meaningful social value, promote international cooperation through the use of technology in social innovation field, enhance the experience by the projects of both students and researchers.
The center aims to carry out cooperation projects of scientific and technological achievements by both sides based on the theory of sustainable development, including the development and application of technology for the benefit of society. The Cornell University of technology commercialization Center (CCTEC) management include more than 3000 pieces or more inventions in engineering, medical science, agriculture and other fields.
